Remix your own music in Detroit this summer

A new pop-up is going to stick around after the NFL Draft

This weekend Detroit may be known for the NFL Draft, but across the globe the city is known for music. After all, Detroit is the home of Motown and Techno. To celebrate our musical legacy during the draft, a pop-up is welcoming fans to try their hands in an interactive music experience. It’s all thanks to a partnership between Bedrock and Bluewater.

“This was designed for both musicians and non-musicians alike,” said Scott Schoeneburger, Managing Partner with Bluewater.

At Remix Detroit you can produce your own background music by placing light balls into various boards that represent sections of music from beats per minutes, to drum kit, to bass and keys. There’s also a turntable where you can add different amounts of effects. Spinning the records on the turntable can also control the light display in the room to match the mood of the music.

Right now, the music theme in the room is Motown, but up next it will be techno music to coincide with Movement. “Then we have some collaborations with various groups from Detroit. So, it will be pretty exciting to see what they come up with,” said Schoeneburger.

Remix Detroit is free and open to the public. To see how the music room work, click the video player above.
