Char, chili and quality beef will amp up your Memorial Day burger

Add some good smoky flavor to your holiday weekend meal

May is National Burger Month, and Memorial Day Weekend is the perfect time to light up the grill with a new recipe that takes your burgers to another level. It’s all about quality ingredients and not being afraid to try something new.

Chef Ashley Breneman with Certified Angus Beef Brand stopped by “Live In The D” to show how you can do something new with your classic burger.

When it comes to your burger, it’s all about making sure you have quality beef. “Because of the marbling that we have in our beef, it’s going to taste that much better,” said Breneman. “Just look for the logo.”

Breneman shared how to make a Hatch Chile Burger using blistered chilis to create a chili toping that takes the burgers to another level. She explained that blistering the chilis over an open flame allows you to scrap off the char and add a smoky flavor to your burger by creating a sauce.

There are also pre-made patties available that have the hatch chile flavor already mixed in. “It’s already loaded with that roasted green chili,” said Breneman. “A hatch green chile is similar to a jalapeno, a little bit more mild, and really smoky.”
