Don’t Wait: Medicare Open Enrollment Ends Dec. 7

Legacy Partners Insurance urges Michiganders to review plans now, touts free, year-round help from local advisors

As Medicare’s annual enrollment period winds down, Debbie Stroup of Legacy Partners Insurance Services is urging Michigan beneficiaries to take a “deep dive” into their coverage before the Dec. 7 deadline.

“Now’s the time to take a really deep dive and take a look at your plan,” Stroup said during an appearance on “Live in the D.” “A lot of plans are going away in Michigan.”

Stroup said Legacy Partners’ Medicare team offers no-cost assistance to help seniors compare benefits and understand changes - including popular extras like dental, vision and gym memberships - and stands by clients year-round when questions arise.

“If you’re not really interested in reading that great big, thick book that comes to you in the mail, that’s why we’re here,” she said. “We’re an advocate for you free of charge, and we can help you navigate that.”

Stroup emphasized the value of working with a local advisor who knows both national and Michigan-specific plans. “We are local right here in Michigan,” she said. “I understand all of those big national plans … but I also understand those small local plans that are really solid in this neighborhood and in this area.”

Help doesn’t end when enrollment does, she added, noting that Legacy’s licensed team assists 365 days a year with bills, doctor changes, pharmacy issues and imaging referrals. “Suddenly you go to the pharmacy and your medication’s not covered anymore - it went from $2 to $100. We can help you,” Stroup said. “Maybe the pharmacy down the street is a better option for you.”

Stroup also cautioned viewers about scams targeting seniors. “A lot of people are being scammed right now,” she said, encouraging beneficiaries to consult a trusted local advisor before sharing information or making plan changes.
