Tee off in Northern Michigan: Experience America’s Summer Golf Capital

Northern Michigan is filled with golf courses and resort experiences

With warmer weather on the way, many golfers are already thinking ahead to scenic courses, weekend getaways, and resort-style stays, and you don’t have to travel far to experience it all for yourself.

Known as America’s Summer Golf Capital, the Northern Michigan region brings together top-tier courses and resort experiences, often just a short drive apart.

“Each area of our eight resorts that are part of America’s Summer Golf Capital are in different parts of the state that also kind of give their own unique experience,” explained Caroline Rizzo from Grand Traverse Resort & Spa.

“From Thompsonville with Crystal Mountain up through Traverse City, then into Petoskey with the Boyne and Bay Harbor courses, and then you head over into the middle of the state in Gaylord and Lewiston with Garland, Treetops, so really just great, different, beautiful experiences,” she added.

“You have people coming from all over the country now to experience Northern Michigan golf, and in some areas, they are flying in and within 30 minutes they are on the fairway from the runway at the airport because we have so much great stuff right in that general area. Then you can move around and go from resort to resort and experience all of the different courses,” Rizzo said.
