Most people know a deep breath can take the edge off stressful moments. Amy Davenport is betting it can do much more than that.
Davenport is the founder of Breath Ambassadors, a wellness studio she describes as one of a kind. “We’re the only wellness studio of its kind in the world, not just the US,” she said.
The studio’s signature offering is a four-week embodiment challenge built around 9D Breathwork - a modality combining sound frequencies, vibration, and neuro-linguistic programming to help clients move out of their heads and into their bodies. The goal: releasing trapped trauma, stress, and anxiety.
Davenport knows the territory personally. “I had suffered with alcoholism, went to rehab, was introduced to breathwork, and I loved the way that I could use my breath to change my state,” she said. That discovery sent her on a two-and-a-half-year practice before she became certified - and eventually stumbled onto the 9D method that reshaped her approach entirely.
“I found out that it’s incredible what neurologically and somatically - or within your body - what you can do with your breath,” Davenport said.
The practice isn’t the slow, quiet breathing most people associate with meditation. Sessions run two to two-and-a-half hours and can involve breath holds, physical activation, and guided audio. Davenport says mouth breathing, specifically, delivers an immediate jolt to the system.
“You can actually use your breath like a shot of espresso,” she said.
Breath Ambassadors is based in Lake Orion. More information is available at breathambassadors.com.
