Fire breaks out at vacant warehouse on Detroit's southwest side

2-alarm fire sent thick smoke into area of Hammond, Federal streets

DETROIT – The Detroit Fire Department is investigating what started a vacant warehouse fire on the city's southwest side early Tuesday morning.

The two-alarm fire broke out at Hammond and Federal just after 3 a.m.

Flames and smoke billowed from the building, which suffered extensive damage.
