Detroit Mayor Bing signs non-fraternization order Detroit mayor's order follows recent sex scandals in police department No description found
DETROIT – Detroit Mayor Dave Bing signed an order Friday that bans fraternization among city of Detroit employees.
A statement from the mayor's office was released late Friday afternoon.
"Earlier today I signed an executive order that establishes a non-fraternization policy for all city of Detroit employees. The public must know that I hold city employees to a higher standard of conduct, in order to ensure a fair, conflict-free workplace. This policy affects all employees, including the Detroit Police Department, pending approval by the Board of Police Commissioners, which we fully expect to happen at the next Police Commissioners meeting," read the statement.
The Detroit Police Department has been hit by recent sex scandals.
Ralph Godbee retired as police chief after a subordinate revealed she had a sexual relationship with him.
Also, Commander James Moore was demoted to the rank of lieutenant following claims of inappropriate conduct with a female officer.
