West Bloomfield man dies while diving in Florida
MARATHON, Fla. – A 64-year-old West Bloomfield Township man died on Monday after being found unresponsive while scuba diving in the Florida Keys.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office in Florida says Stephen Matheny was pulled from the water near Marathon, Fla., around 11:20 a.m.
First responders began CPR immediately and transported the man to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Foul play is not believed to be a factor, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
An autopsy is pending.
