"This system is one of the first of its kind in metro Detroit and the United States," said Ficano.

The Command Center, which cost approximately $222,000, will utilize road crew data and track snow-clearing data in real time.

Eighteen Wayne County Road trucks are now equipped with dash cameras.

Wayne County hopes to release a smart phone app this Spring, so residents can keep track of progress during weather events.
