Judge denies bond request for Kwame Kilpatrick Kilpatrick to remain in Michigan prison until sentencing on racketeering, conspiracy convictions
DETROIT – A judge has denied Kwame Kilpatrick's latest request to be released on bond while he awaits sentencing for racketeering and conspiracy convictions.
Kilpatrick's lawyer, James Thomas, had said his clients isn't a flight risks or a danger to the public.

No sentencing date has been set for him yet.
In the bond request, Thomas wrote that Kilpatrick's knee was bothering him and he needed medical attention he wasn't getting in prison.
Kilpatrick's mother, ex-U.S. Rep. Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick, had offered her Detroit home as collateral to ensure he shows up to court for sentencing.
A federal jury on March11 found Kilpatrick and close friend Bobby Ferguson guilty on multiple counts, including racketeering conspiracy.
