Man tries to kidnap 11-year-old at gunpoint in Pontiac
Suspect approached boy as he stepped off school bus
PONTIAC, Mich. – An 11-year-old boy told police he was approached by a man with a gun after he got off his school bus in the 300 block of W. Wilson on Wednesday around 4:30 p.m.
The boy told investigators he was approached by the suspect who grabbed his arm and showed him he had a gun. He said the suspect told him to "go with him." The child was able to break free and run away - but not before being chased for a short time by the suspect. The boy safely made it home and the suspect ran in an unknown direction.
The boy said he did not know or recognize the suspect and didn't get a good look at his face so no composite drawing can be done.
Deputies and detectives canvased the neighborhood and talked to two neighbors who told detectives that a person matching that description was walking in the neighborhood approximately two hours prior to the incident.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff's Dispatch Center at 248-858-4911 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP. There is a $1000 cash reward available.
