FUN FACTS ABOUT BALLETMET COLUMBUS' PRODUCTION OF "THE NUTCRACKER":

*Hundreds of thousands of snowflakes fall in the snow scene!  That's more than 30 pounds of faux snow!

*40 new costumes were made for this production.  There are 130 costumes  collectively in this production….all of which have to be cleaned and pressed for each performance, and altered for each cast.

*There are over 30 dozen buttons on the soldier costumes

*124 crystals and pearls are strung on each snowflake crown

*It takes almost 4 hours to complete one snowflake crown

*There are almost 100 performers in each performance of "The Nutcracker".

*There are over 350 stage lights all controlled by state-of-the art computers.

*The cast is comprised of 19 professional dancers, 84 children, 50 members of the Michigan Opera Theatre Orchestra, a 27 member stage crew, 9 dressers and additional wig and make-up artists.

*Every professional dancer starts out by taking a technique class on stage to warm-up their bodies before a performance....
