Detroit Lighting Commission to vote on change to LED lights

Work on installing new Detroit street lights halted until vote to switch over to LED

DETROIT – Crews for the Detroit Lighting Commission have been working to install new lights in two targeted areas within the city of Detroit.

However, the installation is now on hold as the Commission makes a move to switch over to LED lights.

The Lighting Commission meets Wednesday to vote on whether the change to LED will happen. If the vote approves the change, new lights will be ordered and installation could start within a few weeks.

Crews that were working on installing lights will now work on maintenance until a final decision is made regarding the LED lights.
