DETROIT – A new dining, bar and entertainment venue is coming to downtown Detroit this fall.

Denver-based venue "Punch Bowl Social" is opening up a new location at "The Z" this November, creating 150 new jobs in the city. The new venue will set up its 24,000 square foot street-level shop at 1331 Broadway Street, between Grand River and Gratiot avenues, in the newly constructed "The Z."

"We are very excited and proud to add Detroit to the list of outstanding cities that Punch Bowl Social calls home," said founder and CEO, Robert Thompson. "We are more convinced than ever that Detroit is ready for the kind of unique urban food and beverage experience that Punch Bowl Social will bring."

Punch Bowl Social currently operates venues in Denver, Colorado and Portland, Oregon, and will open a third location in Austin, Texas, this summer.

The concept for Punch Bowl Social is centered on culinary integrity, entertainment and its acclaimed beverage program. Punch Bowl Social serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. The menu offers made-from-scratch, upscale comfort food, artisan punches, craft cocktails mixed with homemade syrups, juice extracts and bitters, and craft beers. Guests will also enjoy bowling, ping pong, shuffleboard, darts, pinball, foosball, pool, board games, retro video games and private karaoke rooms. Weekend programming will include live DJs on Friday and Saturday nights, as well as Sunday brunch.

"This announcement is a significant indicator that the momentum of Detroit's revitalization is attracting national retailers and restaurateurs," said Dan Mullen, Vice President of Development for Bedrock Real Estate Services. "Punch Bowl Social is the kind of dining and entertainment experience that belongs downtown. The mix of great food, drinks and games is a perfect addition to our growing entertainment scene," he said.

Bedrock's new mixed-use development, ‘The Z,' opened to the public in January.  The project boasts first-floor retail, state-of-the-art technology and murals painted by 27 different international artists, creating a one-of-a-kind exciting experience for all visitors.

"Guests are often drawn to Punch Bowl Social for the games, but more often than not, they return for the gastro-diner and craft beverage experience," Thompson said. "It is not a coincidence that we seek culturally dynamic and growing urban markets like Downtown Detroit."
