3 injured by pit bull after breaking up fight with other dogs

FORESTER TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Police say three people were injured Saturday when they tried to stop a pit bull from attacking other dogs and it turned to attack them.

At 5:45 p.m., officers left for a home in the 6000 block of Brookside Drive in Forester Township. According to three victims, several dogs at a home were playing in a fenced-in yard when the pit bull became aggressive with the other dogs.

When the pit bull started attacking the other dogs, its two owners and a neighbor tried to break up the fight, causing the pit bull to attack the victims.

All three victims escaped from the yard with injuries. One of the victims, a 46-year-old Forester Township woman, was taken to Deckerville Hospital in a private car.

The owners, women from Marysville ages 46 and 42, were taken to McLaren Hospital in Port Huron. The 46-year-old was later taken to McLaren Macomb for further treatment.

Sanilac County Animal Control worked with officers to capture and detain the pit bull. The dog is being held while authorities investigate the incident.
