Forecast: More rain on the way to metro Detroit

But it should stay dry for the Rolling Stones concert

DETROIT – We had a little more cloud cover than expected today which, combined with the easterly wind, kept afternoon temperatures down in the mid to upper 60s -- certainly not very July-like.

In fact, we won't be far from our all-time lowest high temperature for this date: 66°, set back in 1891. However, it was a dry day so, for those of you who don't like the hot weather, it was a bit of a respite from the summer heat.

This evening will be dry, with temperatures during the concert at Comerica Park in the 60s (18° Celsius for you Canadians). Rain will move in from the southwest between midnight and dawn (most likely not until after 3 a.m.), with the greatest coverage of rain by the morning rush hour being south of M-59. Lows in the upper 50s (15° Celsius). Light and variable wind.

Thursday forecast:

Rain Thursday morning will be most consistent south of M-59, with rapidly decreasing amounts north of there. In fact, those of you north of I-69 MIGHT even keep a little sunshine through the day. Rain should end by early afternoon, and partial sunshine should build in by late afternoon. Highs in the mid 70s (23° Celsius). North wind at 5 to 10 mph. Thursday's sunrise is at 6:05 a.m., and Thursday's sunset is at 9:11 p.m.

Gradually decreasing clouds Thursday night, with lows in the upper 50s. A bit of ground fog is possible late Thursday night in areas that get rain.

Friday forecast:

Mostly sunny on Friday -- a spectacular end of the work week. Highs in the low 80s.

Partly cloudy Friday night, with lows in the mid 60s.

Weekend forecast:

Today's computer models have lowered the thunderstorm chance on Saturday, so right now let's go with a dry day, and highs in the low to mid 80s.

Partly cloudy Saturday night, with lows in the mid to upper 60s.

Partly cloudy on Sunday with a period of thunderstorms possible (but parts of the day should be dry). Highs in the low to mid 80s.

Showers are possible Sunday night, with lows in the upper 60s.

Showers and possibly some thunderstorms are likely on Monday, with highs in the upper 70s to near 80°.
