Former Troy Athens marching band assistant director charged with child pornography

TROY, Mich. – The former assistant director of the Troy Athens High School marching band is facing federal child pornography charges.

According to a criminal complaint filed Tuesday, investigators began tracking Eric Junod's Internet activity in January after he was linked to an online community where child pornography is regularly exchanged. He used the screen name "Viper45."

A search warrant was executed Monday at Junod's home in Holly and investigators found more than "600 images that meet the federal definition of child pornography" on a laptop computer, iPad and iPhone, according to the complaint.

Junod admitted to having sexually explicit conversations online and exchanging sexually explicit photographs with minor children, according to the complaint.

He also said he inappropriately touched a child as young as a year old, according to the complaint.

The marching band's website says Junod was named assistant director in 2006. District spokeswoman Kerry Birmingham said there is no indication that any students were involved in Junod's alleged crime and that he has been fired from his job.

Junod is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday on charges of distribution and receipt of child pornography and possession of child pornography.
