Crash brings down utility pole, pulls up fire hydrant in Detroit


DETROIT – An accident on Detroit’s east side brought down a utility pole and pulled up a fire hydrant Friday night.

The accident was on Conant Street, near Charles Street.

A woman was driving south on Conant Street when she swerved to avoid hitting a car pulling out from a side street.

After the woman swerved, she struck a utility pole tearing it from the ground.

Her vehicle continued south on Conant where she hit a fire hydrant, pulling it and 7 feet of pipe out of the ground.

No one was injured in the crash.

Detroit police are investigating.
