Flight diverted to DTW after passengers restrain unruly woman

DETROIT – A flight was rerouted to Detroit Metropolitan Airport Thursday evening after an unruly traveler was detained by passengers.

United flight 3461 operated by Shuttle America had left LaGuardia and was on its way to Chicago O’Hare when a woman assaulted another passenger and was restrained.

The flight was rerouted to Detroit where she was carried off the plane by police.

The FBI is investigating.

Flight 3461 left DTW for Chicago at 9:44 p.m.

In an unrelated event, shortly before 8 p.m., the North Terminal was on lockdown briefly after a bag was tossed out at the curb. It was discovered that the bag was full of books.
