MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. – Jury selection commences Tuesday in the trial for a man charged in the murder of a 14-year-old Armada girl.
James VanCallis is accused of killing April Millsap in July 2014 along the Macomb County Orchard Trail in Armada. Investigators said VanCallis grabbed Millsap as she walked along the trail and tried to rape her before beating her to death.

Millsap had been walking her dog on the trail. A passerby found her body.
VanCallis is charged with murder, kidnapping and attempted criminal sexual conduct.
