Kwame Kilpatrick files appeal with US Supreme Court Attorney: Appeal filed Wednesday with Supreme Court No description found
DETROIT – Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick has filed an appeal with the U.S. Supreme Court, Local 4 News has learned.
Kilpatrick's attorney told Local 4 News that the appeal was filed Wednesday with the U.S. Supreme Court.
The appeal was received and entered into the docket. The appeal asks for the court to consider hearing Kilpatrick's case.
Kilpatrick appealed to the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, but was denied in October .
After months of trial, a jury in 2013 found that Kilpatrick rigged contracts, took bribes and committed other corrupt acts, often with contractor Bobby Ferguson. Kilpatrick was doomed by his own text messages, which revealed efforts to fix deals for Ferguson.
