Bloomfield Township attempted abduction suspect in custody

Qdoba employee speaks about man who tried to lure woman

BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A woman standing in line at Qdoba asked employees for help after a man would not leave her alone.

Local 4 News spoke with a Qdoba employee who was there when the man was allegedly inside the restaurant trying to lure the woman.

Qdoba employees called 911 and spoke loud enough for the man to hear, and he walked out of the restaurant.

Moments before that happened, Qdoba workers were warned by a woman who had just been approached by the man at Rite Aide.

Between 1:30 and 2 p.m. Thursday, there were four attempted abductions. It all happened in a parking lot at Square Lake Road and Woodward Avenue.

In the first two incidents, the man offered women money if they got into his red van. When both women refused, things escalated.

The third victim was a 20-year-old woman. She had just parked outside Qdoba when the man opened her driver's side door and tried pulling her out. She was able to stay in the car and the man left, but he didn't go far.

A few minutes later he walked into Qdoba, where he tried to lure a woman for the fourth time.

The 49-year-old Pontiac man saw the intense media coverage, walked into the police station and turned himself in.
