AAA Michigan: Gas prices rise 14 cents

DEARBORN, Mich. – Bad news for drivers this Monday morning. AAA Michigan says gas prices statewide have increased 14 cents in the past week.

The Dearborn-based auto club says the statewide average for self-serve regular unleaded gasoline was about $2.12 on Sunday, which is still about 31 cents less than it was this time last year.

The highest average price was about $2.14 per gallon in the Ann Arbor area, while the lowest was around $2.09 per gallon in the Traverse City area.

According to Triple-A, the increase in price can be attributed to oil refineries not being back up to full production after the spring maintenance season. In addition, not all nationwide terminals have received their supply of summer-blend gasoline, thus contributing to higher prices at the pump.
