Student dies after fall from school roof in Ypsilanti

YPSILANTI, Mich. – A student was killed Wednesday after a fall from the roof of the school in Ypsilanti.

The incident happened at Washtenaw International Middle School.

It is unclear if the 14-year-old student jumped or fell.

Superintendent Benjamin Edmondson said the the incident was non-violent in nature.

"We have arranged mental health counselors available to talk with students and staff about normal responses to grief," Edmondson said. "We will not hesitate to employ additional resources as needed from the WISD, City and Sheriff's office as they have already reached out to us."

School will resume Thursday.
