In a display of true brotherhood within the law enforcement community, officers from Highland Park covered for officers from the Detroit's 9th who were attending the funeral of Capt. Kenneth Steil, Friday.
The unity of the officers was evident as many of the officers covered the shift on their own personal time.
“I chose to do this. This is what I wanted to do,” said Officer Jeffrey Crouch. "I feel for the family and his friends and all of his co-workers."
More than a dozen Highland Park officers patrolled the streets as the funeral took place.
