Kim Mathers, the ex-wife of Detroit rapper Eminem, was arraigned in a Macomb County courthouse on Thursday for allegedly operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
Mathers, 51, of Chesterfield, was arrested May 14 in Chesterfield Township after crashing her vehicle into another car while intoxicated. Body camera footage shows Mathers slurring her words while attempting to complete several field sobriety tests.
She was charged with an OWI third offense — a felony — just days after she pleaded no contest in connection with charges stemming from a hit-and-run crash on Feb. 16 involving a parked vehicle.
Appearing before 42-2 District Court Judge William Hackel III on Thursday, Macomb County Assistant Prosecutor Joseph McCarthy asked for an emergency motion in relation to Mathers’ earlier case, suggesting that she violated the bond conditions that were set with her most recent arrest.
An evidentiary hearing will be held to address the motion, Judge Hackel said, though he didn’t specify the date.
Prosecutors also asked the court to require Mathers to wear a Soberlink device immediately with alcohol monitoring at least four times a day, and that she sign up for in-patient or out-patient counseling within seven days, which the judge approved.
Mathers’ personal bond was set for $5,000 and a probable cause conference was set for June 24.
