OAKLAND COUNTY, – An Oakland County man knew he had won a prize, but waited for his wife to come home to find out the amount. Together the couple won a $1 million Powerball prize from the Michigan Lottery.

Roger Roy, 61, matched the five white balls (03-19-35-51-67) in the April 29 drawing to win a $1 million prize.

He bought the winning ticket online at MichiganLottery.com.

“I have a Powerball subscription set up on my online account so I don’t miss a drawing,” said Roger Roy, of Ortonville. “They day after the drawing, I saw an email from the Lottery that was different from the ones I’m used to when I win a few dollars. I knew I must have won big, but I wanted to wait for my wife to get home so we could find out the prize amount together.”

“I’m sure we will do something fun with the money down the road, but for now we just plan to save it and use it as a financial cushion,” said Roy.
