Special Flint water crisis investigator resigns after drunken driving arrest

Ellis Stafford arrested Saturday night in Wayne County

FLINT, Mich. – A former member of the Flint water crisis investigation team has been arrested on drunken driving charges, the Attorney General's Office said.

Ellis Stafford was arrested Saturday night in Wayne County.

Attorney General Bill Schuette released a statement Sunday, saying he has accepted Stafford's resignation.

"I thank him for his efforts on the Flint water investigation," Schuette said. "Ellis and his family are in my thoughts and prayers in this challenging time."
