Woman followed, assaulted at Oakland University, police say

ROCHESTER, Mich. – A woman was assaulted Monday on the campus of Oakland University in Rochester after the victim said the assailant would not take no for an answer.

The female student at was walking alone on campus when a man approached her and offered to buy her coffee, police said.

The man followed the woman to her car and put his hands around her waist and under the woman’s clothes.

Police said the woman yelled for the man to stop, causing a bystander to notice the assault. The woman then retreated to her car and drove away.

The victim described the man to police as an African-American male in his 20s with short dark hair, a receding hairline and a thin, athletic build. Police said the assailant is approximately 5 feet, 10 inches tall and was last seen wearing a gray shirt, jeans and boots.

The victim said the man said he was from Africa and that he spoke with a strong accent.
