3-year-old boy found safe in home on Detroit's east side; suspect in custody

DETROIT – Police are searching for a man believed to have kidnapped a 3-year-old boy from a home in the 19300 block of Winston Street. 

UPDATE: Missing 3-year-old found safe; suspect in custody

Michael Lee Grayson, 19, may have been driving a stolen purple Plymouth Voyager van with Michigan license plate CMB 3125. Police believe he had 3-year-old Marvie Gardner with him.

The vehicle was found on Detroit's west side.

The 3-year-old boy was found safe in a home on Detroit's east side.

"There was a verbal altercation last night between the suspect and his girlfriend. The girlfriend left with their child ... not really sure what he was trying to do but he took the other child from this home, and when the mom woke up this morning about 5:30 she noticed the child was missing," said Detroit Police Deputy Chief Charles Fitzgerald.
