Brandon Mullins, James Kerr III charged in dirt-bike robberies

HURON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Two men were arrested Tuesday and several stolen dirt bikes were recovered after police responded to a call about a suspicious vehicle in Huron Charter Township.

According to police, the responding officers saw James Kerr III hiding behind a tree when they arrived. A blue and white dirt bike was on the ground about 10 feet from Kerr.

A blue Buick parked about 75 feet away from Kerr had a dirt bike hanging out of the trunk. Both bikes were found to have been stolen, police said.

A second man, Brandon Mullins, was found in the woods near Sibley Road and Middlebelt Road, according to police. Forensic evidence collected by the Huron Township Evidence Technician Unit linked Mullins to the thefts.

Huron Valley and Trenton police K-9 units found three more dirt bikes in the woods about 225 feet away from the Buick.

The bikes belonged to a nearby homeowner, and all five of his bikes were returned.

Another Huron Township home was broken into around the same time, police said. Tools and a dirt bike were taken but they haven't been found yet, police said.

The investigation is ongoing. Police believe the duo made several trips to the area at night.
