SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Four men were arrested Thursday after they robbed a Southfield house and led officers on a chase, police said.
Southfield police said that just before noon, four men kicked in the door of a home in the 2800 block of East Larkmoor Drive.
Officers were called by a man who said his neighbor's house was being broken into. He said he saw several men walking into the home and leaving with property.
Southfield Police Chief Eric Hawkins said the neighbor gave officers a play-by-play of the break-in.
The man gave police a description of the vehicle, and a Southfield sergeant found it and tried to pull it over. The vehicle fled as another officer approached from the opposite direction.
The fleeing vehicle ran into the patrol car head-on and the driver reversed to try to go toward the police car again. The sergeant used his vehicle to pin the other vehicle against the first police car, trapping the men, police said.
"The suspects intentionally struck one of the police cars," Hawkins said.
Four men were taken into custody. The stolen property was recovered at the scene.
The men arrested an 18-year-old from Romulus, an 18-year-old from Redford, a 21-year-old from Westland and a 28-year-old from Detroit.
Police said one of the men was wanted on multiple warrants for home invasion in Oak Park.
No one was injured in the chase.
