Woman shopping with child steals wallet from Chesterfield Township store

Police are trying to identify a woman who took another customer's wallet from the service counter at a Walmart store in Chesterfield Township on Sept. 10, 2017. (WDIV)

CHESTERFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A woman shopping with a child was caught on surveillance video stealing a wallet that was left on the service counter of a Chesterfield Township Walmart.

Police said a customer at the Walmart at 45400 Marketplace Drive left her wallet at the service counter at 5:54 p.m. Sunday. The wallet contained cash, Social Security cards and multiple credit cards.

A woman in her 30s walked up to the service counter, made a purchase and took the wallet. She placed it in her cart and left the store in a Dodge Durango.

The woman was shopping with a child that appeared to be 7 to 10 years old.

The woman was described as black with light complexion and in her 30s. She had a tattoo on her inner left forearm and was wearing a red short-sleeved shirt, blue jeans and a gold necklace.
