PONTIAC, Mich. – A 23-year-old Waterford Township man has died after being shot in the head at a block party in Pontiac. Police say once they arrived a suspect immediately turned himself in.
Deputies say they responded to multiple 911 calls on the night of July 25, reporting a man was lying on the ground and not moving after being shot at a block party.

Police say the party had around 100 people attendees and was located in the 80 block of Mariva Street in Pontiac.
According to deputies after making their way through a congested area of a large crowd and numerous vehicles, they located, identified, and immediately began rendering lifesaving aid on the man shot.
Authorities say after EMS arrived the man was transported to McLaren Oakland Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
While deputies were at the scene, they say a 23-year-old Pontiac man identified himself as responsible for the shooting and informed deputies that he was a Michigan Concealed Pistol License (CPL) holder.
Deputies say the man was taken into custody without incident and his firearm was secured as evidence.
According to authorities the suspect has been lodged at the Oakland County Jail pending review of the investigation and authorization of charges by the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office.
The investigation remains active.
