Man shoots teen after demanding cellphones, police say

DETROIT – A 19-year-old man was shot and killed Monday during a robbery on Detroit's east side.

Police said the teen was walking with friends on Marseilles Street when a man got out of a car and demanded their cellphones.

The man shot the teen and took off in a silver Chrysler 200, police said.

The teenager was originally listed in serious condition, but has since died from his injuries.

Several hours later Detroit Fire Department was called to the home for a fire.  No one was injured and the house has extensive damage inside.

Officials say that arson investigators will be out to investigate.
