Detroit’s Covenant House renovations unveiled

DETROIT – A place that’s come to symbolize opportunity and second chances in Downtown Detroit has gotten some big upgrades.

A ribbon-cutting celebration was held Tuesday at the emergency shelter for homeless youth. The organization received $675,000 in donations.

More than 900 young people are enrolled each year in Covenant House programs, which include four second chance high schools authorized through Grand Valley State University.

Those schools offer dropouts and at-risk youth a shot at getting their diploma.
