70-year-old Wayne man beaten in parking lot; 2 Garden City men charged

WAYNE, Mich. – Two Garden City men were charged in connection with the beating of a 70-year-old man Sunday morning in the parking lot of a bar in Wayne.

Ryan Fletcher, 35, and Jacob Rose, 23, both of Garden City, were charged with intent to commit murder and assault with a dangerous weapon. Fletcher was also charged with fourth offense habitual offender.

Police were called to the parking lot of a bar near Michigan Avenue and Newberry Street at about 2:30 a.m. where a Wayne resident had suffered numerous injuries. The man was allegedly punched, kicked and struck with a car radio.

The man was taken to the hospital. Three arrests were made.

Fletcher and Rose were arraigned Tuesday and their bonds were set at $100,000 each. The third person arrested was later releases after the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office denied issuing charges.
