Police return to wastewater treatment plant in Detroit after apparent kidney found

Third organ found at plant since last week

DETROIT – Detroit police have returned to the wastewater treatment plant on the city's southwest side after an apparent kidney was found, officials said.

This comes just days after an employee at the plant found an organ Friday night, police said. Another organ was found Saturday.

UPDATE: 4th organ found at wastewater treatment plant in Detroit determined to be deer heart

Police said the employee found the first organ at the plant on West Jefferson Avenue at about 7:30 p.m.

Police said it was unknown if the first organ, which may be a liver or kidney, is from a human. The organ was turned over to the Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office.

Police said medical officials have also not confirmed if the apparent kidney is human.
