Detroit school evacuated after suspected explosives found by maintenance worker

Suspicious package found at Gesu Catholic School

DETROIT – A suspicious package was found Monday morning at a school on Detroit’s west side prompting an evacuation.

The maintenance worker at Gesu Catholic School at McNichols Road, near Livernois Avenue, was cleaning out the garage and found what he believed to be explosives.

The building was evacuated. The children were taken across the street to the University of Detroit Mercy library.

No other information was made available.
