Family, investigators still searching for missing college student in Detroit

DETROIT – Lisa Nichols isn't giving up on finding her 19-year-old daughter, Jasmine Moody.

"I miss my child," Nichols said. "I need her home, dead or alive."

Moody, who was a student at Texas Woman's University, went missing last December while visiting a friend in Detroit. She was last seen in the 3000 block of Baldwin on the city's east side.

"I thought she went for a walk. I went for a walk to grab a cigarette and came back, but Jasmine didn't," said Brittany Gurley, the last person to see Moody alive.

Gurley told Local 4 she and Moody met on Twitter and had a romantic relationship for two years.

"I don't know anything. I went searching myself and came up with literally nothing," Gurley said.

Volunteers, law enforcement officers, community activists and private investigators gathered Thursday to scour a mile radius around where Moody was last seen.

"My life is at a standstill," said Moody's stepfather, Patrick Kidd. "I need closure, I need to know where my baby is."

Crime Stoppers is offering a $2,500 reward.

"If I had to guess, I think someone on this block, in this neighborhood, could solve this crime," said private investigator Scott Lewis.

Tips can be called in to 800-SPEAK-UP.
