Group files complaint claiming Kid Rock is violating election law; Rock fires back blunt response

DETROIT – Watchdog group Common Cause filed a federal complaint alleging Kid Rock is violating federal election law.

The complaint said he's running for Senate, but hasn't filed any of the necessary paperwork.

Rock, whose real name is Robert Ritchie, wasted no time in responding on Twitter, making it clear he has not announced he's running. He told those filing the complaint to "go (expletive) yourselves."

Prominent attorney Rob Huth, who has plenty of experience with election and municipal law, said that in this case Rock is right.

"Clearly Kid Rock is living on the edge with the way he's taunting these rules, but until he says he's a candidate the complaint doesn't pertain to him," Huth said.

Rock has been coyly dropping hints that he may or may not run. He's gone so far as to print up “Kid Rock for Senate” T-shirts, but when pressed for an answer, he says he hadn't made up his mind.
