WESTLAND, Mich. – A registered sex offender from Westland is back behind bars after federal agents said he was caught transporting graphic images and videos of children as young as infants.
Investigators with FBI Detroit said their investigation into David Donnell White Jr., 35, of Westland began in January 2026 when looking into multiple cyber tips provided to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).

Reviewing photos and videos from the cyber tips, according to investigators, they met the federal definition of child sexually abusive material. The graphic images and videos allegedly involved young girls, toddlers, infants and adult males.
The feds then served Comcast on Jan. 9, 2026, asking for subscriber information for the IP address involved. Comcast sent the return the same day. According to the complaint, the IP address came back to White and an address on Cherry Hill Rd in Westland.
In February, the feds said they searched White’s home and Samsung Galaxy phone. A “preliminary review was conducted on scene.”
The quick review did not immediately turn up images that clearly met the federal definition of child sexually abusive material, but it described other images and a locked folder that included photos of minor girls. The review of the device, including the password-protected folder, is still ongoing, according to the complaint.
White allegedly confirmed the phone number and device, but ended the interview when federal authorities asked for the password to access his phone.
White’s criminal history
According to the feds, White was sentenced to five years’ probation in Genesee County in October 2018 after taking a plea to multiple convictions involving child sexually abusive material (CSAM). The charges included multiple counts of both using a computer to commit a crime and possession of CSAM. He was discharged from probation on August 16, 2023.
According to the 2026 complaint, one of the cyber tips to the NCEMC included graphic images of minor females from 2022, “while White was still on probation.” Other cyber tips were also received in August and October 2025, now allegedly connected to White.
White is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in federal court in Detroit on May 5, 2026, at 1 p.m.
