Police seek driver accused of hitting, killing woman in Detroit

DETROIT – Police are searching for the driver who hit and killed a 58-year-old woman crossing the street Wednesday night on Woodbine Street and 7 Mile Road.

A nearby gas station supplied a video of the incident. A vehicle, what appears to be a silver SUV and possibly a Cadillac, drove off from the parking lot into the street, and ultimately striking the woman.

According to preliminary police reports, the vehicle drove westbound after hitting the woman. Another car driving westbound reportedly ran the woman over.

Officials say the woman was rushed to the hospital, but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Detroit police are looking at green light cameras to get a better lead on the vehicle. Officials said they believe they know who the driver is, and they were hopeful to make an arrest overnight Wednesday.
