DETROIT โ An early morning fire in an east side apartment complex may have been caused by residents using stoves to heat their apartments, according to the Detroit Fire Department. The fire department was called to the complex on East 7 Mile Road near Hoover Street shortly before 3:30 a.m. Wednesday. Two people, one of which is a 3-year-old girl, were transported to the hospital for medical treatment, although their injuries are not believe to be serious. Several residents of the apartment building said they had asked for the owner multiple times to fix the heat in the building. They said they needed to use stoves and space heaters to heat their apartments, and that it was so cold in there that they could see their breath inside.

Teen wanted for fleeing from Detroit police after allegedly pointing gun at woman
DETROIT โ Police are looking for a teenager who is accused of pointing a gun at a woman while driving in Detroit, then fleeing police and abandoning his vehicle with children inside on Friday night. Detroit police say at about 11 p.m. on Jan. 15, an officer pulled alongside a woman driving west on Seven Mile Road near Hayes Street at a high rate of speed. The police officer attempted to pull over the teen driving the Mitsubishi, but the teen turned around and fled east on Seven Mile Road, striking the officerโs vehicle on the passenger side in the process. Officials say other officers in the area saw and pursued the suspect to the 5700 block of Farmbrook Street, where the teen abandoned his vehicle and continued fleeing on foot. Police say the suspect left behind two small children inside the vehicle he abandoned.

Shooting victimโs vehicle blocks lane, causes crash on Southfield Freeway
DETROIT โ Michigan State Police said troopers were dispatched about 3:20 a.m. Monday to northbound Southfield Freeway (M-39) just north of 8 Mile Road after the report of a shooting in Detroit. There had been a shooting that police believe happened on 7 Mile Road near the Southfield Freeway. The victim fled the area after being shot, entered northbound Southfield Freeway but came to a rest on the freeway, blocking the left northbound lane just north of 8 Mile Road. Another vehicle that was not involved in the shooting rear-ended the shooting victimโs vehicle. State police said the shooting victim fled the crash scene on foot and was located by Southfield police.

2 Detroit officers injured in crash on cityโs east side
DETROIT โ Two Detroit officers were injured in a collision Friday night at the intersection of Seven Mile Road and Hoover Street. Three police vehicles were heading south on Hoover on an emergency run. As they got to the intersection, an SUV was trying to make the light on 7 Mile Road when the vehicles collided. 27-year-old man shot by intruders inside motherโs Detroit home
DETROIT โ A 27-year-old man was shot Wednesday night by men who broke into his motherโs home on Detroitโs east side. Officials say the victim went to check in on his unwell mother at her home in the 14900 block of Lappin Street near Hayes Street and Seven Mile Road. Upon entering the house, the victim discovered that his mother was not home -- rather two intruders were inside and armed. The 27-year-old man was able to drive himself to the hospital where he is currently in surgery. The mother, who was out shopping at the time, later arrived at the home after the incident and was not harmed.

23-year-old man found shot on sidewalk on Detroitโs west side
DETROIT โ A 23-year-old man was found injured on the sidewalk on Detroitโs west side early Saturday morning. Detroit police say at about 4:50 a.m. the victim was found in the 24200 block of West Seven Mile Road suffering from a gunshot wound to the body. Witnesses reported hearing shots fired and seeing a vehicle flee from the scene, according to authorities. The 23-year-old man was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. 32-year-old hospitalized after overnight shooting in Detroit, police say
DETROIT โ A 32-year-old man was shot at 3 a.m. on Friday in Detroit, police said. It happened in the 18900 block of West 7 Mile Road. A Good Samaritan transported the victim to a hospital. Officers arrived while the Samaritan was leaving the scene, so officer blocked traffic for the Samaritan. Police were not able to talk with the victim due to his condition.
Man shot more than 10 times while stopped at red light in Detroit, police say
DETROIT โ Two people were injured in a shooting while stopped at a red light, police said. The shooting happened at 7 Mile Road and Dequindre Street in Detroit at 9:17 p.m. on Tuesday. A 24-year-old man was shot more than 10 times and privately conveyed to a hospital, police said. A 22-year-old woman was transported by medics to a hospital and is in stable condition. Both victims were inside a red Chevrolet Impala.
Detroit police investigating after 55-year-old man shot, injured
DETROIT โ Detroit police are investigating a shooting that left a 55-year-old man injured. Police said the shooting happened on Sunday at 7:55 p.m. in the area of 7 Mile Road and Fenmore Street. The victim was driving a black 2016 GMC Sierra when an unknown suspect fired shots from inside a late-model red Dodge Charger. The victim was struck in the body and lost control over his vehicle, striking a pole. The suspect fled the area and was last seen traveling north on Ashton.

4 men shot at park on Detroitโs east side
DETROIT โ Police are investigating after four men were shot Monday night at a park on Detroitโs east side. Then, one of the victims got into a vehicle crash on the way to the hospital. The car crashed in the area of East 7 Mile Road and Gratiot Avenue. The victims were at a hospital as of Tuesday morning and expected to recover. Detroit funeral home owner charged with second-degree murder after allegedly shooting, killing cousin
DETROIT โ The well-known owner of a Detroit funeral home has been charged after allegedly fatally shooting his cousin during an argument on Monday. The 37-year-old owner, Major Clora, Jr., of Detroit, was charged Thursday with second-degree murder and felony firearm. Police say at about 10:35 a.m. Clora fired a single shot at his 53-year-old male cousin outside of the Clora Funeral Home on Seven Mile Road, killing him. Clora reportedly waited for police at the scene and was taken into custody. Clora is being held on a $100,000 cash bond.
Well-known Detroit funeral home owner fatally shoots cousin during argument, sources say
DETROIT โ The well-known owner of a Detroit funeral home is accused of shooting and killing his cousin during an argument at the funeral home, according to police. The shooting was reported around 11 a.m. Monday at the Clora Funeral Home on Seven Mile Road, officials said. โGoing to be a shooting on East Seven Mile Road,โ a dispatcher said over the police scanner. FBI offers $25,000 reward in search for suspects in 4-year-olds death in Detroit
DETROIT FBI Special Agent in Charge Steve DAntuono announced during a news conference Wednesday a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for the death of a 4-year-old boy in Detroit. Family members said the children were in bed when someone drove by and opened fire, hitting Nathaniel. Detroit gas station shoot-out kills 1, injures another
DETROIT โ Police are investigating a verbal altercation that led to a deadly shooting at a Detroit gas station on Wednesday. At about 10:20 p.m. occupants inside of a silver Ford Taurus engaged in a verbal altercation with occupants inside a black Ford Fusion in the 15200 block of 7 Mile Road near Hayes Street, police said. The altercation led to a shoot-out between the passengers of both vehicles. Two men who were standing near the vehicles at the time of the shooting were struck by gunfire, police said.
