DETROIT – A 16-year-old has been charged as an adult in the murder of a 13-year-old boy in Southwest Detroit, officials said.

The shooting happened around 6:55 p.m. July 26 in the 8320 block of Homer Street, according to authorities.

Police said they found a 13-year-old Detroit boy with a gunshot wound to his back. Medical officials arrived and took him to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Ryan McLeod, 16, of Detroit, is accused of driving past the home and firing multiple shots. One of those shots fatally wounded the 13-year-old boy, according to officials.

McLeod has been charged with first-degree premeditated murder, felonious assault, and two felony firearm violations.

He was arraigned Monday morning (Aug. 1) at 36th District Court.
