DETROIT – The Starbucks location in Detroit’s Midtown area, near Whole Foods, has shuttered.

The location along Woodward Avenue and Mack Avenue has been open for several years, but closed up shop, permanently, effective Monday, the company confirmed to ClickOnDetroit.

The coffee shop recently removed seating options inside the cafe. Daily Detroit, who first reported this story on Tuesday, said the store closed because of safety concerns.

According to Daily Detroit, Starbucks reps had been working with the store and the city of Detroit to operate a safer store for employees and customers. But they couldn’t find a solution.

The store has been open since 2016.
