Winning Powerball ticket worth $842M sold in Michigan

DETROIT – Someone in Michigan probably thinks they’re waking up to a dream on Tuesday.

A single Powerball ticket for Monday night’s $842 million jackpot was sold at the Food Castle on East Grand Blanc Road in Grand Blanc, Michigan. The ticket has a cash value of $425 million dollars.

The Michigan Lottery says it won’t know the winner’s identity until they come forward, which hadn’t happened yet, as of early Tuesday, Jan. 2.

The jackpot is the second-largest lottery jackpot ever won in Michigan. The largest jackpot was a $1.05 billion Mega Millions ticket won in January 2021.

The winning numbers for the drawing on Monday, Jan. 1 were: 12, 21, 42, 44, 49. The Powerball was: 1.
