Court: Flint-area judicial candidate belonged on ballot
A Flint business address at the top of a nominating petition, instead of a Grand Blanc home address, didn't spoil the signatures gathered by B. Chris Christenson, the appeals court said Thursday. FLINT, Mich. โ State election officials took the wrong path in trying to keep a Genesee County judicial candidate off the 2020 ballot, the Michigan Court of Appeals said. GRAND BLANC, Mich. โ A wanted fugitive was arrested in Grand Blanc on Thursday after escaping custody nearly 50 years ago. On June 1, 1971, Leonard Rayne Moses escaped the custody of law enforcement officials while attending his grandmotherโs funeral in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Moses will now have to face justice for her murder.โThe FBI said Moses assumed the identity of Paul Dickson. He was arrested earlier this year on Michigan state charges and his fingerprints were entered into a nationwide database in October. โThe arrest of Leonard Moses brings a measure of closure to the family of the victim, Mary Amplo,โ said Allegheny County Sheriff William Mullen.

GRAND BLANC, Mich. Jeffrey David Cox, a Grand Blanc resident, was taken into custody Saturday after authorities claim he made threats to kill the President and to bomb several locations. I plan to assassinate the President and the Vice President. Nobody can stop me.I will kill and murder Sophia Winningham, the State of Michigan Adult Protective Services social worker.I will place a bomb in all Mott Community College campuses set to detonate on Monday, May 18, 2020. I will also go on a shooting spree and kill all of the students and staff at all of the campuses of Mott Community College sometime next week. That same day, Grand Blanc Police Department detectives, officers, and U.S. Secret Service agents executed a state search warrant at Coxs home in Grand Blanc and arrested him.
Waterford police officer charged with criminal sexual conduct, on unpaid leave
WATERFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. - A Waterford Township police officer is off the job after it was discovered that Grand Blanc police have been investigating him for criminal sexual conduct. Police will only say the third-degree criminal sexual conduct charges stem from an incident in Grand Blanc last year. It took until May 30 for officer Kevin Thompson to be charged and arraigned. Grand Blanc said it has no booking photo of him. In a statement, police Chief Scott Underwood says in part "the alleged incident took place while Thompson was off duty and didn't occur in the township of Waterford."
Video shows Mateen Cleaves naked with accuser outside hotel
Surveillance video from outside a Grand Blanc, Mich. hotel shows former Michigan State University basketball star Mateen Cleaves and the woman who accused him of sexual assault. Video shows a naked Cleaves pulling a woman, who is also naked, back into a hotel room and motioning to a driver inside a white van. Cleaves' defense team said in court he was simply trying to prevent her from running off without any clothes on. Cleaves' attorney released a statement following the release of the video:"The whole video along with all the evidence was presented in a court of law. Cleaves was charged with criminal sexual conduct, assault with intent to commit criminal sexual conduct and unlawful imprisonment.
