Madison Heights house fire kills 2

MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich. – A house fire in Madison Heights killed two people Wednesday, March 27.

It happened at a home near Harwood Avenue and John R Road, just south of Madison Heights’ business district.

Neighbors saw smoke coming from the home at about 9:30 a.m. and pounded on the door, but there was no response. Fire crews geared up and entered the home which was filled with heavy smoke. Two people were found collapsed on the floor and removed from the house, where crews attempted life-saving aid, but they did not survive. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
