Police said the driver of the Sedan was traveling northbound when they turned left and continued westbound on Nine Mile Road. The moped driver was taken to a hospital and treated for broken bones and lacerations. The red Sedan is described as missing a passenger side window and possibly having damage along the passenger side. RV used for COVID-19 testing stolen in Rochester Hills

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. – An RV used as part of a drive-thru COVID-19 testing site has been stolen in Rochester Hills. The RV was set up outside of the Rochester Medical Group building in a well lit parking lot on South Boulevard between John R and Rochester roads. The drive-thru site tested about 150 people a day, and the RV cost more than $14,000. Thieves took off with 500 COVID-19 testing swabs, boxes of PPE and propane tanks and heaters that staff members used to stay warm. “To have that stolen with all our PPE in it, it was gut wrenching,” Margolis said.

Maple Road to close for I-75 bridge work Friday

TROY, Mich. Maple Road under I-75 will be closed Friday night for bridge work. Maple Road will be closed in both directions beginning at 9 p.m. Friday and is expected to reopen by 9 a.m. Saturday as crews from the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) work on the bridge above. Eastbound traffic will be rerouted to Stephenson Highway, Big Beaver and John R. roads. Westbound Maple Road traffic will be directed to John R., Big Beaver and Rochester roads. MDOT says I-75 traffic should not be impacted.

The number of confirmed cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in Michigan has risen to 50,504 as of Sunday morning, including 4,880 deaths, state officials report. As of Sunday a total of 28,234 people have recovered from the virus statewide.

Firefighter burned while putting out Rochester Hills garage fire

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. A firefighter was injured Sunday morning while working to put out a garage fire in the 3400 block of John R Road in Rochester Hills. Crews from the Rochester Hills Fire Department were dispatched to the area after a call came into 911 from the house at around 6 a.m. Sunday. Byers Towing assisted the fire department in moving the vehicle out of the garage so firefighters could extinguish the fire. Firefighters managed to extinguish the fire in about 25 minutes, according to the Rochester Hills Fire Department. One firefighter was burned at the scene and taken to a hospital.

Man on personal mobility scooter killed while improperly crossing Troy road, police say

A man on a personal mobility scooter was killed Thursday while improperly crossing a road in Troy, police said. The man was crossing John R Road near Isabell Drive around 7:30 p.m. Thursday, according to authorities. He was struck by a 2005 Ford Taurus, officials said. He was not within a crosswalk while crossing the road, according to police. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to have been a factor in the crash, according to authorities.

Weekend traffic: Maple Road to close under I-75 in Oakland County for bridge work

TROY, Mich. - Both directions of Maple Road will close this weekend under I-75 in Oakland County for bridge work, officials said. The closure is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Sunday and end by 5 p.m. Sunday, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation. I-75 will not be affected by the closure, MDOT officials said. Eastbound drivers will be detoured north on Stephenson Highway, to Rochester Road, to Big Beaver Road, to John R Road and back to Maple Road, according to MDOT. Westbound drivers will be detoured north on John R Road, to Big Beaver Road, to Rochester Road, to Stephenson Highway and back to Maple Road, officials said.
